KCD Multiplayer is in open beta
Anyone with the game on Steam can download KCD:MP and join a server now. What is in build 0.28.0, how to get in, the public server, and how to host your own.
KCD Multiplayer is in open beta. The launcher and the dedicated server are free to download, anyone who owns Kingdom Come: Deliverance II on Steam can play, and a public server is up for everyone who wants to try it.
When we wrote what this is and where it is going, it was closed testing. This is the next step: the builds are public, the server list is live, and the bugs are there to be found by people who are not us.
What is in it
The current build is 0.28.0.
- Other players, in the flesh. The game's own characters, dressed and armed, walking, riding and fighting, with a name and a health bar over their heads.
- Fights that count. Swings, blocks, perfect blocks, counters and master strikes use the game's own combat tables, and the server keeps everyone's health, stamina and wounds, so a duel ends the same way on both screens.
- Horses, dogs, bows, crossbows and hand cannons.
- Proximity voice. Hold V and talk. Your voice comes from where you stand and fades out by 25 metres.
- A shared world. Doors, gates and chests are the same for everyone, merchants trade in the game's own shop screen, and a server keeps one hour and one weather for all.
- Parties, torches and emotes. Hold G for the emote wheel.
How to join
- Download the launcher and unpack it anywhere. There is no installer, and your game folder does not change.
- Start Steam, open the launcher, type the name the others will see, pick a server from the list and press Join.
- In the world, Enter opens the chat, Tab the scoreboard and G the emotes; hold V to talk.
You need Kingdom Come: Deliverance II on Steam (version 1.5.6, which the launcher checks) and Windows 10 or 11. Your single-player saves are never touched.
The public server
KCD:MP Basic RP runs Kuttenberg with the Basic RP game mode, open to everyone. It is the start of a role-play
mode. Register a password once with /register and the server puts you back where you left off every time you
/login. There is /me and /do for role-play, a local chat that carries 20 metres and /s to shout, a merchant at
the spawn, /horse for a horse, and /help for the rest.
Host your own
The dedicated server is its own download: a folder for Windows or Linux, the .NET 10 runtime, one UDP port and one settings file. Open the port and the server shows up on the public list and in every launcher within a minute. What a server does is up to its game mode, a script in Lua or C#. Free roam, Basic RP and a duel arena come with it, and the scripting docs cover the rest.
What it is not, yet
There is no story and there are no quests. Servers run the game's maps without the single-player cast: the Trosky countryside, Kuttenberg or the monastery at Klášter, one per server. It is an early build, and things break. When they do, tell us on the forum, in Bug Reports: a bug found by someone else is worth ten of ours.
Where to find us
The forum for bugs, ideas, servers and game modes. Discord to find people to ride with. And, new this week, @kcd_mp on X for clips and news.
KCD Multiplayer is a fan project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Warhorse Studios or Deep Silver. It is free, and it will stay free.
See you on the road to Kuttenberg.
